The United Way of Forsyth County will host its annual Sneaker Ball on Saturday, May 3. Doors open at the Bridger Field House at Wake Forest University’s Allegacy Field at 6:30 p.m., with the event running from 7-11 p.m. As the name implies, the Sneaker Ball is an opportunity for guests to wear formal attire, but with one important twist: their shoes need to be sneakers. The event will feature a DJ, saxophonist Bryan Patterson, Jr., dancing, dinner and drinks, and a silent and live auction. “You're having fun and you're giving to a great cause,” said United Way of Forsyth County president and CEO Antonia Monk Richburg. “You enable people who are struggling every day. They're working hard, but they just can't make ends meet. This gives us an opportunity to assist them."United Way's goal is to move 3,500 local families out of poverty in the next 10 years, by creating pathways to financial stability, improving access to quality education, and offering workforce training and essential support services. The cost per person to attend is $100, and tables are available to purchase for $1,500 each. For more information about United Way of Forsyth County, you can visit uwforsyth.org.
